Imperial Pils is grand

Hey all,

The Imperial Pilsner went on over the weekend, and as promised it is delicious. The Saphir hops add a very nice spicy hop note and the malt is sweet in the front with a slight acidy that finishes clean and dry. But be careful the 9% abv really sneaks up on you with this one.

Cheers,
Tyler

  1. Hey Tyler, can't wait to get in and try the Impy Pilsner, one of my favorites from last year. Also, since I know you guys do on occasionally have guest beers on tap (BTW, I can't believe Celebration Ale is still on, that thing is delicious), I was wondering if you saw this from Ommegang:

    Inauguration Ale (a.k.a. Obamagang)
    January - February
    6.2% ABV - Draft only

The TTB won't let us call the beer Obamagang on the keg label. So it will be known legally as Inauguration Ale 2009, but the tap handles will be more...um...direct. The style lies between a porter and stout, with a bit of Kriek and a touch of chocolate blended in. It will be on draft only, beginning with the inauguration - in limited areas including DC, NYC, Syracuse, Philly, Chicago and Boston. We will donate a percentage of sales to charities in the respective cities where the beer is sold, and we've asked our distributors to match our donations and pick the local charities. (Also please note that the beer is not an endorsement of Obama.)

Just an idea. I love Ommegang and based on the framed Obama poster on the wall, I thought Peter might go for it. Keep up the good work, 34 days and counting....

  2. I was in last Friday (02Jan) hoping to snag some Imp IPA, but it had kicked and been displaced by the Imp Pils. It was quite tasty, and I did note that acidic touch. It reminded me a lot of a fresh, right from the wooden cask Pilsner Urquell I had while touring their brewery in Plzen in '07. Good stuff, gang!

Oh, Tyler - the Barleywine really rocks this year... Mmmm!!!

    Prosit!!
