Happy Birthday USA!

While Tod and Zach are working on the Mash Tun I thought I would get a quick Blog in.

Happy 4th of July everyone. To celebrate here at the Portsmouth Brewery we decided to do a Red, White and Blue sampler for you all to enjoy.
The Red being our Murphy's Law Red Ale, our version of a Irish Style red ale.
The White being our Belgian Wit, which is a Belgian Wheat beer with orange and coriander flavors and a nice white color from the raw wheat used in the boil.
Last but not least is the Blue, which we put out another fan favorite our Bluebeery. It is a light bodied beer that has turned almost purple from the 120lbs of REAL blueberries added to this brew. If you have never had our Bluebeery you have not experienced what a real fruit should taste like.

See ya here for a pint later!

Cheers,
Tyler

  1. So, an odd thing happened at the bar tonight. I had a Murphy's Law Red (delicious) and then ordered a Smuttynose Robust Porter which appeared to be on tap. It came and was a deep ruby color. Thinking it should have been darker, I asked the bartender and he confirmed that it was a robust porter, but also thought it should have been darker. First taste was porter-like, so I didn't question it. Then, 5PM rolled around and a shift change. I finished my ruby-colored "porter" and order another. This one was pitch black and delicious. I asked the new bartender why my first porter was so red, and she replied, "Oh. They must not have completely bled the lines. It was Bigfoot before they switched it to the porter." So, I got some weird combo of porter and barleywine that was much stronger than I was expecting, but also oddly tasty. Then Tod showed up and I, somewhat drunkenly, introduced myself. Overall, it was a fun evening and I look forward to drinking the Red all week long. Great job guys!

  2. Sorry about that Guru. I was at Smuttynose picking up growlers to replenish out stash here when the beer got changed over. I was told that it was pulled through all the lines, and it seemed like we missed one. Opps! I am glad you are enjoying the Red though. It’s a great beer.

    Cheers,

  3. It was no big deal. I figure, 1 bad beer (and it really wasn't all that bad) over the last 7 months isn't too bad. Luckily, the girlfriend was driving.
